Starting my Packing List...sort of...

Ok, Ok....Breathe... (I have to keep reminding myself of this) So, I am in the process of compiling 4 or 5 different packing lists into one of my own. My good friend Amy sent me hers, and I googled packing lists for adoption. I have never seen so many Microsoft Excel charts in my life! I just picked out the 4 best ones, and will go from there. I have my Highlighter ready, a blanket, and a cup of tea, to keep me going. Oh, and Grey's Anatomy too, of course! I was complaining about trying to pass the time, and Amy said she was starting to compile her list of things, so when we get our paperwork back, if we need to travel within a week or so, we will be prepared.

And I thought packing for 10 days to go to Myrtle Beach was hard!

We have size and weight limits for our luggage. We can only have about 44 lbs in a suitcase. Now, that might sound like alot, but let me tell you, it adds up quickly. When we get ready to travel, I will post pictures of our luggage mountain. That, compiled with the fact that you don't want to forget anything, or leave anything out, makes for a heavy bag. I do know a must have is Ziploc bags. Every list I printed out stressed the importance of taking these along. I just have to keep telling myself it's not like we're flying to outer space or anything. And of course, they even have Walmarts in China!
I am debating on what to take for Shanxi girl and what to tote her around in. I want to try to get an update of measurements before we go. She looks big in the pictures, but, I have a feeling she's alot smaller after you remove all of her layers. I have seen the very nice Ergo carriers, and also Sling Lings. They both look nice, although the Ergo is alot more money. BUT, is is worth the money if it's a better carrier? I definetly want one of the two, since I want to be able to carry her as much as possible to help with the bonding.

Well, better go get started! If anyone has any tips or tricks for packing, please let me know!

Until next time...

  2. Oh Angie - are you starting to pack already? I was thinking about it. Everyone is telling me I should. Hmmm...I like your idea of at least getting a packing list together. Guess I need to go hit google for a bit and do some research! Any good lists you found that you can send me? (Oh, and I deleted my previous post b/c I saw I misspelled a word so now I've corrected it here. ;-)

  3. Hi Angie,

Thanks for sharing our journey with us. This blog world is amazing to me. That others would care. What a gift to me. I so love sharing the joy of others and their journey to their little ones. I love following your blog.

I was shocked and thankful to God that He even worked out the clothing details. I had no idea what to pack. I took a shot at 18 month clothing and Ron said it is all working. She wore her new little coat yesterday it worked too. I think her size is close to what they told us back in Sept. So either she has not grown or they made her bigger than she was. From what I have learned from friends, It seems the little ones are smaller than what they tell us they are. They told us last year she was 27 pounds. I really don't think she is. Everything is going so well for Ron and Adam. Yesterday there were some tears--I still need to blog that. I hope that helps.

  4. One more thing...Ron rented a stroller yesterday and it didn't go well. The stroller could not handle the streets in Fuzhou. They have a side carrier and he is not too fond of that either. I hope they can come up with something so they can sightsee with ease. I think he would have loved a back pack.

    :-)
