Posing for the Visa Picture

Meeting our new friend Maia

We started off the day with breakfast, and then it was off to meet our guide in the lobby to walk to get the babies Visa photos taken, and then off to the Medical Exam center. It's still kind of surreal to me to actually be here and see these places, after only ever seeing them on people's blogs...We saw the statues around the island also...
Our friends here from BAAS are so wonderful! Even though we have never met in person, it's as if we've known each other for years! I will be sad to leave them, as they have become very special to us!
Anyways, the babies weren't sure what to expect when we walked in, but, Chloe DID NOT like the first stop-the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor. This is pretty high tech stuff, let me tell ya-for the hearing test, they squeaked a toy duck on either side of her face to see if she would respond to it. She then had to look with her bare eye into her ears, which Miss Chloe did not like at all, then she had to stick a tongue depresser in her mouth, and by then, Chloe was screaming bloody murder! It was then onto Height, weight, and temperature. Chloe is 31 inches tall, 25.8 lbs, and her temp was 97.5! All good! We then had our last stop at the doctor, who looked over their bodies, and made sure everything was ok. By then, she was so sweaty and red faced from the crying...poor thing...since we are a non-Hauge family, she did not need to get any additional immunizations. Walking on the way back to the hotel, I felt her head keep bobbing...then..she finally gave in and went to sleep, which she is still doing for 2 hours so far. This girl likes her sleep! I can't wait to be able to get out and explore the island and shops! This shopping is a dream come true for me! Ha!
You should see all of the adoptive families staying here on the island-it is wonderful to introduce yourselves to one another and find out their "adoption story".
Dan is now downstairs with Simon, our guide, doing the paperwork for the visa. The hotel room here is cavernous compared to our last room in Taiyuan! It actually has a separate sitting area.
Well, that's all I have for now. I am sure I will post more later after we get to get out and about the island.
Congrats to my good friend Chanda, and her family, who finally received their TA! I will soon be reading your blog from China!

  1. Everything is going so well for you...what wonderful pictures and posts. Ron said Lucey really screamed through her medical appointment and the visa pictures, there are tears running down her face. :-( Not an easy time. Enjoy the rest of your stay in Guangzhou.
